South End Fridge Theory of Change:
Purpose: The South End Community Fridge seeks to address the problem of food insecurity in the South End neighborhood of Boston by putting food directly in the hands of people in need. It also seeks to remove barriers to food access such as citizenship and employment status by being placed where anyone can access it at any hour without being questioned.
Community fridges operate on the principle of mutual aid, the belief that action is implemented by a community for the community. The fridge helps facilitate direct interactions between those who are able to donate with those who are in need.
